The story of a smile, the color of your eyes or characteristics of your personality all work together to tell a story. This is the story of your life. It has been formed by the blood that flows through your veins, passed down to you by your ancestors.
Given that today is Mothers Day, I see that this topic is very appropriate. I am very fortunate that my Grandparents are still here. Today my mothers parents came with us to church today. As I sat next to my grandmother, I looked over to my mother and then my little sister and thought, how great is it to have all three generations together! As I looked to my grandmother, I notice features that my mother has. Then I look to my little sister and can even see traits of my grandmother in her as well, three generations down!
Once service was over we went to breakfast and just enjoyed our time together. We spoke of old times as we all looked over the menu. As we ordered our food, my grandmother asked for the same breakfast meal my mother would always get when we would come in the past. As I sat and just soaked up this quality time with my grandmother and mother, I began to think of how neat it was that ones genetics tell a story that doesn’t stop with their offspring, it continues down the line from 2nd, 3rd, and generations to come. Although, one day we may not live long enough to see the later generations, we will continue to live on through the blood that flows through the veins of our offspring.
So every freckle, your long locks of hair or that weird habit you have are parts of your past, present and future making its a way into this world.
